By Nick Roes The Green Heron is doing fine, Though short and stocky it can dine on tiny mice and slimy leeches that hang out near river beaches.
Monogamous for one whole year. They build their homes with sticks, and wear a chestnut neck, a green-black cap, with white in front. They take a nap all day and then they fly at night, for they’re nocturnal, out of sight.
They live along our river shores Unphased by humans Making ‘smores They’re independent, Non-conforming. Sure hope they don’t mind global warming. | Doubt | Holiday Limerick Rant | The Fungus Family | Thanks, Mom | Barry Ville, RIP | A Building Dreams | Don't Bug Me | My Unfinished Symphony | The Green Heron | | Return Home | Great Links | Bio | Index of Nick's Writings | |
